Guaranty fee

A one-time fee paid to SBA at closing, calculated on the guaranteed portion of the loan and tiered by loan size.

Why it matters to you

The largest single fee in the deal and the one every online calculator ignores. On a $700,000 loan it's several thousand dollars. You can usually finance it, but then you pay interest on it for the whole term — worth doing the arithmetic both ways.
